There Are Blue Skies Above...

Once upon a time there was a boy called Empire State Human (hereby known as Simon) who bought a computer for the very first time in 2003 because he was getting bored with recording music on his trusty old Tascam 4 track, and had heard about this new fangled thing called sampling, and he wanted to have a go.
A couple of months later he'd done a few remixes and a few mash-up bootleg type things and gave them to the world to poke fun at.
Over on the other side of the Atlantic about 3000 miles away, a girl called Elizabeth quite liked a track that he had done called Galang-a-Porn (one where he'd mixed MIA's Galang with Clinic's Porno... hence the ingenuous title!) and wrote about it on her sadly now defunct and deleted blog 'Type K Personality'. Simon was incredibly flattered that someone could like one of his efforts and bookmarked Elizabeth's site and visited on a daily basis, and was completely hooked on reading about the life of a girl he'd never met.
Time went by and daily visits led to the occasional comment left on each others sites, the occasional comment led to the occasional email, the occasional email led to frequent email's.
Simon and Elizabeth really enjoyed writing to each other and talking about what they were up to, and found they were really good friends, and discovered a mutual love for all things David Gedge and Bauhaus.
Frequent email's turned into daily email's, there was never any romance or anything like that involved really, apart from when Simon would have a shandy or two too many and start saying how beautiful Elizabeth was and he quite fancied her("the wine goes in, the truth comes out..."), but Elizabeth didn't mind too much and made fun of Simon for drinking too much while at the keyboard.
Anyway, a great friendship developed and Elizabeth announced on her new and improved super TweeGoth website 'The Roaring Machine' that she was coming to the UK for 10 days, Simon was quite adamant that she should come to his new home in the Isle of Man, never thinking for a second that she actually would... (although really wishing she would).
Much to Simon's surprise Elizabeth said she was going to go and visit him.
Simon shit himself...
Never thinking that he could ever entertain someone so wonderfully gorgeous, fun, intelligent, sexy and lovely, especially on the Isle of Man where there is bugger all to to.
Elizabeth said she didn't care about going out and was quite happy staying in and listening to records and going for walks (Simon's favourite things).
The time for Elizabeth's arrival was getting closer and Simon was getting more and more nervous, not because he ever thought that there could be anything between them (although he did daydream about it quite a lot), but that he didn't want Liz to come all this way and have an incredibly boring and dull holiday.
Simon met Elizabeth at the airport, she looked so beautiful, even after spending over 24 hours traveling, she was just stunning.
Simon had never believed in love at first site until this moment.
After a strange Taxi ride to Simon's place (cheers Phil), Simon put the kettle on.
10 wonderful wonderful days later Elizabeth and Simon went to the airport to say goodbye...
But only for a couple of months.
In those 10 fantastic days they had fallen in love and got engaged, and are planning on getting married in the summer.
So after a journey of almost 4 years, they found each other.
This is a true story.
My name is Simon, and I love Elizabeth with all my heart.

I promise not to keep going on about this, I can hear some of you vomiting over your cornflakes from here.
It's just that I never really thought I would ever meet anyone who I care about so much, and this has made me realise that when I thought I was in love in the past I really wasn't, I might have been infatuated or lustful or something, but this is the real thing, and it's just wonderful.
Electric Light Orchestra - Mr Blue Sky
As for the choice of music, I make absolutely no apology for posting this track yet again, both Liz and I agree it's simply the greatest song ever written, and it will be getting played at the wedding as the first song, and then again later, and maybe again, and, ah sod it... let's face it, it's on repeat all night.
And here's another couple of great tracks that I think might be getting an airing amongst Sex Gang Children, Electric Light Orchestra, Bauhaus, The Pastels, Butthole Surfers (sorry Liz) The Wedding Present, Pavement (only joking Liz), etc...
Tullycraft - Twee
The Boy Least Likely To - Be Gentle With Me
Both these wonderful tracks are spot on lyrically for me, and musically they aren't too shabby either.
Perfect songs.
