Sunny Sunday Smile...

James William Hindle - Silence

This wonderfully upbeat tune (I say upbeat, but the actual lyrics suggest otherwise) is taken from James William Hindle's latest album, 'Town Feeling', a title borrowed from a track on Kevin Ayers' perfect 'Joy Of A Toy' album.

'Town Feeling' is James' third album released by the fantastic Badman Recording Co. records and was recorded in Brooklyn, although he is from London and now lives in sunny Yorkshire.
The album was recorded with the same guys and gals that were on his previous release i.e. Neil Cleary and Kevin Barker (Currituck Co.), Gary Olson and Julia Rydholm of The Ladybug Transistor but this time including a little assistance from the likes of Otto Hauser (Espers), Andy Cabic (Vetiver) and James Huggins (Of Montreal)...
And to top all this he's been invited to perform on the next Current 93 long player by David Tibet (now known as David Michael), which is as higher recommendation that I can think of.

Getting the added collaborations from the above mentioned and the offer from David is a mark of how James is now respected in certain circles, and quite rightly too, he has a habit of writing great gentle catchy pop songs, of which 'Silence' is one of many.
This song may not be the happiest ever written, but it really makes me smile, what with James' beautiful soft voice and thrumminess of the accompaniment.
Oh, and Gary Olson's trumpet solo in 'Silence' is sublime, we need more trumpet solo's.
